2020/21 Caf CL: Kotoko to play home matches at Accra Sports Stadium

Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko have decided on using the Accra Sports stadium as their home venue ahead of the club’s participation in the 2020/2021 Caf Champions League.
The two-time winners of the competition recently communicated their readiness to represent Ghana in next season’s campaign which is scheduled to start in November.
However, the favourite home of the Porcupine Warriors – Baba Yara Sports stadium is currently under renovation, and will not be available when the Caf inter-club competitions kick-off hence the decision to choose the Accra Sports Stadium as their first alternative and the Alhaji Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale as their second choice to host their home matches.
“The first Option is Accra Sports Stadium because of the renovation works at the Baba Yara Sports stadium and Tamale Sports Stadium as the second option because Kotoko is large,” David Obeng Nyarko, who is the Special Assistant to the club’s CEO disclosed on Oyerepa FM.
This will not be the first time the Reds will be playing home away from home in Africa in recent times as they used the Obuasi Len Clay stadium in the 2006 Caf Champions League campaign, prior to Ghana hosting the Africa Cup of Nations in 2008.
