Your degree cannot equal the experience that a former professional footballer can bring on board – Kwadwo Asamoah

Former Ghanaian and Juventus player Kwadwo Asamoah has disclosed that leading football administration is very different from being an athlete, particularly when someone who did not play the game is appointed to the position.

When discussing Ghana’s football situation, Kwadwo Asamoah said that people who have never participated in the sport’s administrative ranks cannot compete with former players in that regard.

“You might have a degree in football but what an ex-professional footballer can bring on board from the experience on the field, your degree cannot match”, Kwadwo Asamoah disclosed.

Ghana’s football has been managed by politicians, businessmen and lawyers in recent years as ex-footballers have been sidelined.

The current Ghana Football Association president is not an ex-player, his predecessor Kwasi Nyantakyi was a lawyer.

We are lucky to have the likes of Abedi Pele, Sammy Kuffuor, Steven Appiah, Tony Baffoe, Asamoah Gyan and many others still alive. What prevents the nation from employing them as administrators?
