Ghana thrashed Togo 3-0 at the Cape Coast Stadium to advance to the semifinals of the 2022U-17 WAFU B Championship on Friday afternoon.
Ghana scored three goals in a row in the second half against a tenacious Togolese team.
The Black Starlets’ emphatic victory will atone for their devastating 4-2 loss to Nigeria in their first group game on Saturday, June 11.
Pius Adua opened the scoring after 54 minutes with a brilliant tap-in to cap off a tremendous team effort.
In the 77th minute, Abdul Razak Salifu capitalized on a counterattack by scoring from outside the box to extend Ghana’s lead.
Captain Collins Agyemang completed the thrashing three minutes later through the spot, driving home the third goal to send the Black Starlets into the semifinals.
In the first half, the Togolese held off Ghana’s onslaught well, but they were blown away in the second.
Because there are only three teams in the group, Ghana’s 3-0 to win qualify them alongside Nigeria.
