Ukraine chasing former Ghana U-17 defender Najeeb Yakubu

Ukraine Association of Football(UAF) are chasing former Ghana Under-17 defender, Najeeb Yakubu to switch his nationally and play for their country.
The 20-year-old has attracted the attention of the football officials at the European country and they bent on holding talks with him about a possible switch of international allegiance.
Yakubu currently plays for FC Vorskla Poltava. The Ghanaian youngster joined the Ukrainian top-flight club in 2018 after ending his stay with New Town Youth, where he has since improved his game.
His initial 3-year contract would have expired at the end of the 2020/2021 football season but FC Vorskla Poltava extended his stay by 4 years last year.
The former Unistar Academy defender is ready to accept a call-up to their national team.
“I want to become the first black player in the national team of Ukraine. If I’m called to the Ukrainian National team, I agree. If there is such an opportunity, I certainly agree, ” he told Sportsarena
“Just what, I like it in your country. Ukraine is my second home. Ghana is the house where I grew up. But I love Ukraine.
” Glory to Ukraine. And one more thing; I am a good boy.”
Najeeb was a key member of Ghana’s U17 side at the 2017 FIFA World Cup in India, playing all five matches for the Black Starlets.
