The late Obaapanin Ama Afriyie, the mother of renowned Sports Journalist – Hon. Prince Osei Agyekum – will finally be laid to rest on Saturday, October 9, 2021, after kicking the bucket some months ago.

Obaapanin Ama Afriyie, popularly known as Auntie Confidence died on February 11, 2021, in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region.

The final funeral rites and celebration of memory will take place at the Lebanon Club at Bantama, a suburb of Kumasi , Saturday, October 9, 2021, from 1pm to 6pm.

She will be laid in state at her residence at Bantama behind the Bantamahene’s Palace.

However, on Sunday, October 10, 2021, the family will gather at the Peyer Memorial Presbyterian Church at Bantama for the Thanksgiving Service.

People from all walks of life are expected to pay their last respect to the industrious woman who gave birth to nine children and had thirteen great-grand children before her demise.

Auntie Confidence gave birth to Gladys Osei Agyekum (Kumasi-Bost), Georgina Osei Agyekum (London), George Afrifa Agyekum (London), Victoria Osei Agyekum (London), and Joyce Osei Agyekum (Germany)

Others are former Nhyira FM Sports Journalist Prince Osei Agyekum aka Hon. prince (London), Rosina Opoku (Afua Serwaa)(Germany), Kwabena Frimpong (U.S.A), and Mrs Janet Afriyie Amponsah (Kumasi).

Obaapanin Ama Afriyie hails from Kumawu in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, and was born in 1938. She died aged 83.

She was instrumental in nurturing her children and grandchildren been a committed Presbyterian Church member.
