“The job I do is coaching and nobody will reject promotion in his Job” – Kotoko stop-gap coach Johnson Smith

Asante Kotoko stop-gap trainer, Johnson Smith has stated emphatically that he will not reject a call from the hierarchy of the club to be a head coach.
Smith replaced Maxwell Konadu who was sacked by the Nana Yaw Amponsah-led management for poor performance. Konadu was shown the exit door after losing 1-0 to Great Olympics in the ongoing 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
Kotoko has improved under caretaker coach Smith and section of the supporters of the club are advocating for him to be made permanent coach of the Porcupine Warriors.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM, Smith indicated that he would not reject the head coach position should he be promoted.
“The job I do is coaching so should I be promoted to the head coach position I can’t reject it. At least the Kotoko fraternity has confidence in me that’s why they allowed me to act as head coach so am doing my best johnson Smith told Oyerepa FM.
The former Karela United coach is not having the License A coaching certificate which is a requirement for head coaches in the domestic top-flight.
But according to him, although he is yet to acquire the required qualification he is capable of leading the technical bench of the Ghanaian giants.
”If you know your job as a coach you know, it’s not about having License A. It’s just a requirement so you can coach a Premier/Division One league clubs.
”For the job, I am capable and know what am about, it’s only that I need the A.”
