‘Stop disgracing GFA’ – Ex-Kotoko Scout warns Refs

Ex-Asante Kotoko Chief Scout, Ebenezer Sefah has warned Ghanaian referees to desist from making the Ghana FA unpopular with their poor standard of officiating after several questionable decisions in recent crucial Ghana Premier League matches.
On Monday, Referee Julian Nunoo refused to award Bechem United a penalty following what appeared to be a handball in the Karela United penalty box in the dying embers of their Match-day 26 fixture fixture, which ended 1-1 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park.
“From what I saw, Bechem was robbed of 3pts. Ref Nunoo lied. He was standing where the incident happened. How can he say the ball hit the player’s back and not his hand? It was a penalty. Refs should stop disgracing GFA,” Sefah told Accra based Original Fm.
Bechem United needed the maximum points to cut the lead of GPL leaders Asante Kotoko to 5 points. However, the stalemate means the Hunters now have 45 points, 7 points behind the 52 points rich Porcupine Warriors.
Though more measures can be introduced to improve the standard of officiating in the GPL, the GFA recently exhibited its commitment to cracking the whip on poor officiating, when the Match Review Panel suspended Referee Joseph Kennedy Padi.
Padi was banned for the rest of the season following a controversial penalty he awarded Kotoko during their Match-day 24 Super Clash with Hearts of Oak in Kumasi.
