Slavko Matic commends ‘brave’ Hearts of Oak players after hard-fought Gold Stars win

Hearts of Oak exhibited a sumptuous fightback to grind first season victory of the season after humbling Bibiani Goldstars by 2-1 last Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium in week 4 of the Ghana Premier League.
Prince Owusu Kwabena’s early first half lead was subsequently wiped off by Isaac Mensah’s 76th minute equalizer before experience Gladson Awako scored a spectacular free kick in the dying embers to snatch all three points.
In his post-match presser, the 46 year old tactician, felt very elated with the win and has described his players as warriors. However, he was dissatisfied with the game plan of their opponents.
“They were warriors and brave on the pitch despite the antics of their opposition.”
“Very important that we won and the way we wanted to play, you saw Gold Stars from the first minute they started wasting our time”
“We didn’t play today 40 minutes in total and I think football won today and the character of my boys”
“They feel the pressure of course and when you receive this cheap goal, things start to be more difficult”
“But after the goal we immediately changed formation from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2, the most important thing is the win for my players”, the boss ended
