Senchi Royals celebrates 1st Victory as Pupuni reclaims top spot in Cricket League

Senchi Royal Batters Cricket Club, after 3 outings in the ongoing Asuogyaman Boys U-19, T20 Community Cricket League, emerged victors against rivals Senchi Master Batters on Saturday, June 19, 2021.

The week 4 Community derby which came with lots of talking points, was played at the Senchi Methodist School Park in the presence of fans in the community.

Royal Batters won toss and elected to field first, so Master Batters, whose coaches did a lot of the talking before the match scored 35 runs for 10 wickets in 11.2 overs in the first innings.

Tensions rose as expectations were high in the Senchi derby, so the players were very careful; but that really brought out the beauty of the clash, with wickets taken at their first faced ball, bowlers going wide and fielders dropping catches.

Royal Batters, in the second innings scored 36 runs, for 4 wickets in 6.5 overs. The Royal’s score meant that they won the game by 6 wickets and owned the bragging rights apart from picking their 2 points.

Earlier, Pupuni Community Cricket Club ensured they recorded 3 wins in 3 games, with their 13 runs victory against Mangoase Hydro Cricket Club on Saturday.

Pupuni, who have reclaimed the summit of the Zone 2 table scored 59 runs, all out in 18.5 overs.

The power generators, couldn’t give a good chase and so managed 46 runs, for 10 wickets in 13.1 over.

Pupuni’s Clement Agyei, scored 9 runs, off 10 balls and was adjudged the Man of the Match.

While Senchi Royal Batters have moved 5th to 4th with 2 points, Pupuni Community Club have taken over the summit of the table, having 6 points, automatically qualifying to the semis, with 2 more matches for them.

The league enters week 5 next Saturday, June 28, 2021, as Tortibo and Abuakwa ready to pick points against their respective opponents.

Two (2) Clubs will qualify from Zone 2, containing 6 Clubs, while only one (1) qualifies from Zone 1, into the semis.
