Prosper Narteh gives injury update on Kotoko duo Abdul Ganiyu and Imoro Ibrahim

Asante Kotoko head coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has provided update on defenders, Abdul Ganiyu and Imoro Ibrahim.

Ganiyu picked up a knock during the warm-up session of Sunday’s 5-0 win over Bibiani Gold Stars at the Baba Yara Stadium and was replaced in the squad by Andrews Appau who had a descend game.

Imoro who stood in as captain, on the other hand, sustained a late injury after an impressive display on the night and was hauled off for Patrick Asmah.

In a post-match interview, Ogum stated that Ganiyu’s injury is not that serious as earlier feared and will be in action in the club’s next game against Eleven Wonders in Techiman but will wait for the Doctors’ report before he will know the extent of that of Imoro.

“Ganiyu’s injury isn’t that bad but then we had to rest him because in the warm up he complained so we thought it wise that we have an equally competent centre-back in the person of Appau so we decided that we should rest him.

“I’m not sure he will be away for long. He will play in the next game. Imoro’s injury is a bit serious but the medical team will examine him tomorrow so I’m expecting an update on him.”

Asante Kotoko currently sit on top of the league log with 46 points, 8 more ahead of second-placed Aduana Stars.
