Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon ready to cash in on Ghanaian youngster Fatawu Issahaku

Sporting Lisbon, one of Portugal’s prominent clubs, is now open to considering offers for young Ghanaian talent Abdul Fatawu Issahaku.

The 19-year-old winger joined Sporting Lisbon in April 2022 but has encountered challenges in breaking into the senior team.

During the recently concluded 2022/23 season, Issahaku found himself rotating between the first team and the club’s youth team. He made a total of 12 appearances across various competitions, contributing with one assist.

The talented player, known for his performances with the Ghana U23 team, had a successful season with Sporting Lisbon’s youth team.

While Issahaku’s current contract with Sporting Lisbon runs until 2027, it appears that manager Ruben Amorim does not have immediate plans for him in the upcoming season.

Reports gathered indicate that Sporting Lisbon is contemplating two options for Issahaku’s future: either selling him to generate funds or loaning him out to facilitate further development.

As of now, Issahaku has not received a call-up to the Ghana national team under the management of Chris Hughton, who took charge after Otto Addo’s resignation.

Nevertheless, Issahaku has been included in the Black Meteors squad for the pre-U23 AFCON in Morocco. He is set to join the team on Monday for a two-week training camp in Egypt.
