The Vice President of Ghana, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has urged Black Stars players to exhibit a spirit of oneness on the field ahead of their opening FIFA World Cup match against Panama on Wednesday.

Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang visited the Black Stars team at their base in Toronto to convey the support and best wishes of President John Dramani Mahama, the government, and the people of Ghana.

Leading a high-level delegation, the Vice President met with the players and technical team as they finalized preparations for the tournament.She told the players to play as a team, as Ghanaians across the globe are solidly behind them.

The Vice President further reaffirmed the confidence of Ghanaians in the Black Stars and encouraged the team to represent the nation with a strong sense of determination, discipline, and excellence on football’s biggest stage.

“We know you’re doing well, we know you’ve already excelled, but we want you to go even higher. So we’re here to encourage you to do more. Sports is about cooperation, and we want to see that as you help one another. Ghanaians are rooting for you, regardless of where they are. Ghana is behind you.”

She wished the team and technical staff success throughout the tournament.The delegation included representatives of His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, led by Daasebre Otuo Siriboe II; officials of Ghana’s High Commission, led by H.E. Prof. Dora Francisca Edu-Buandoh; and executives of the Ghana Football Association, led by Kurt Edwin Simeon Okraku.
