Ghana’s national football team, the Black Stars, have departed for Luanda to face Angola in the second leg of their 2023 Afcon Group E qualifier game.

Unfortunately, captain Andre Ayew has been ruled out of the match due to a knee injury sustained during the first leg on Thursday. The 33-year-old will not travel with the team to Luanda.

Ayew injured his knee while on his way to the changing room, and an MRI scan revealed the extent of the damage, prompting him to return to his club for further treatment. In addition to Ayew, Strasbourg defender Alexander Djiku, Mohammed Salisu, and Denis Odoi will also miss the game due to injuries.

In the first leg played at the Baba Yara Stadium, Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo scored the winning goal for Ghana. With seven points after three games, Ghana currently sits at the top of Group E.
