Ahead of their 2023 Africa U-23 Cup of Nations qualifier against Algeria on Friday, the Ghana U-23 national team has safely arrived in Annaba.
The Black Meteors departed from Kotoka International Airport on Wednesday evening for the first leg tie, which is set to be played at the 19 May 1956 Stadium in Annaba.
Despite reports that Felix Afena-Gyan rejected an invitation to play for the U23 team, he is still included in the squad list, though he was absent from the Black Meteors’ camp.
The team had trained earlier on Wednesday to prepare for the game.
Ghana seeks to qualify for the U23 Championship for the second consecutive year and secure a place in the upcoming Olympic Games in Paris.
Winning the double-legged tie against Algeria would guarantee Ghana’s participation in the tournament, which will be held from June 24 to July 8, 2023.
