2 min read

During a meeting with the Asante Kotoko National Circles Council (NCC) and the Asante Kotoko Old Players at the Manhyia Palace on July 21, 2023, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the life Patron of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club, assigned a crucial task to former Black Stars coach and ex-player of the club, Coach Kwasi Appiah.

The responsibility given to Coach Kwasi Appiah is to find a new head coach to lead the club.

As of the meeting, Coach Abdul Gazale had been overseeing the team after head coach Seydou Zerbo was dismissed in March this year.

Otumfuo emphasized the need to mobilize players ahead of the preseason, which is set to begin on July 29. He stressed that this can only be achieved after a new coach is appointed for the club.

Referring to the report of the immediate past Board of the Club, Otumfuo disclosed that the club was in the process of acquiring new players, but the dissolution of the Board halted the plans.

He also acknowledged the importance of settling debts, including those owed to players, without any delay.

Additionally, Otumfuo urged Coach Kwasi Appiah to swiftly find a new manager for the players, as well as secure suitable accommodation for them since they have been evicted from their residence.

The priority is to have a coach in place in the coming days to enable the club to finalize player signings and gather all the players for the upcoming season.

The 2023/2024 betPawa Premier League is scheduled to commence on September 15.
