Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the owner and life patron of Asante Kotoko, has introduced a four-member Interim Management Committee (IMC) to oversee the club’s operations.
This decision comes in the wake of the dissolution of the 12-member board of directors, headed by Dr. Kwame Kyei, and the management, led by Nana Yaw Amponsah, following the conclusion of their mandate.
In preparation for the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League campaign, Otumfuo has now appointed the four-member IMC.
The committee consists of Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua, serving as the Kontomponiaferehene and a chartered accountant.
Other members include former Black Stars coach James Kwesi Appiah, Dr. Prosper Narteh Ogum, who has been named the new head coach, and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi, taking on the role of administrative manager.
A statement regarding the appointments reads, “His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, Asantehene, has appointed an Interim Management Committee (IMC) for Asante Kotoko S.C pending the restructuring of the administration of the club.”
“The members are Nana Apinkra Akwasi Awua (Kontomponiaferehene and a chartered accountant), Akwasi Appiah, former National Coach, Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum, Head Coach and Emmanuel Newton Dasoberi (Administrative Manager).”
“The IMC is to ensure the club fulfills all statutory obligations of the Premier League and prepare a formidable team for the next season,” the statement concluded.
