Coach Edward Nii Odoom
Accra Hearts Of Oak Public Relations Officer, Kwame Opare Addo has stated emphatically that coach Edward Nii Odoom will lead the side in the upcoming season contrary to reports that the club was on the verge of appointing Ibrahim Tanko as head coach.
There have been reports of the Black Stars B head trainer – Ibrahim Tanko being – on the verge of a move to the Phobians.
It was reported that the discussions were at the concluding stages and it was just a matter of time Tanko is announced as the next head coach of the Ghanaian giants.
According to Opare Addo, the club is in search of an assistant coach and not a head coach as widely reported in the media.
“People should take their minds off regarding Ibrahim Tanko. We’re looking for an assistant coach. Edward is going to lead the team for the upcoming season as the head coach, ” Opare Addo told Hello FM.
“When Kim Grant left we made it clear that Odoom has taken place. We didn’t state otherwise. If there is any change we’ll announce it.
He also debunked reports that Portuguese trainer Carlos Vaz Pinto was appointed as head coach of the side. He explained that he was brought in as the Technical Director for the club following the establishment of the Pobiman Academy.
“I think we made it clear in the announcement we sent out that Pinto came in as a Technical Director. The issue here is that the Pobiman academy will comprise of U12, U17, the Auroras and the main team. So he was not brought in as head coach of the club but as Technical Director of the club.”
It would be recalled that Carlos Pinto left the shots of Ghana just seven days after his appointment because he was not satisfied with terms of the contract.
The Ghanaian top-flight is scheduled to start November 14, 2020, with Hearts Of Oak playing as guests to Aduana Stars.
