OFFICIAL: Hearts Of Oak appoint Aboubakar Ouattara as new head coach

Accra Hearts of Oak have appointed former Technical Director of Wydad Club Athletic (WAC) Aboubakar Ouattara as the club’s new substantive head coach with immediate effect.

The gaffer arrived Accra Wednesday to finalize the deal on Friday.

The Ivorian has penned down a two-and-a-half year deal with the Ghanaian giants and he is expected to begin his journey next week after the club’s friendly with Techiman Eleven Wonders on Sunday.

He has achieved success on the African continent with several clubs. Ouattara was a Technical adviser for Moroccan powerhouse Wydad where he helped them win the CAF Champions League twice between 2017 and 2023.

He also performed Technical Director role at TP Mazembe between 2009 and 2011, helping them win the Champions League.

Again, he won the local league with Mazembe and ASV Club in the DR Congo.

Ouattara holds a CAF License A certificate.

He replaces Martin Koopman who was sacked a few months ago while the first round of the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season was ongoing.

Acting coach, Abdul Badhiru was unable to hold the forth hence the appointment of Aboubakar Ouattara.
