‘Obeng Jnr’s injury affected Hearts’ – Coach Boadu

1 min read

Hearts of Oak Coach Samuel Boadu insists Kwadwo Obeng Jnr’s injury in Friday’s Ghana Premier League fixture against Accra Lions, robbed the Phobian attack of the needed creative supplies for more scoring chances.

Obeng Jnr picked up a foot injury in the 36th minute after he was hacked down in a harsh tackle by Accra Lions central midfielder Rashid Abubakar, who was given the marching orders by Referee Eric Antwi Sefa.

Coach Boadu was forced to replace the injured 22-year-old forward with Isaac Agyenim Boateng, who registered his name on the scoring sheet with a witty finish in the 55th minute.

“The red card didn’t help both teams because we lost Obeng in the game. He was really working hard in the game and it was obvious he could have created more scoring chances,” Coach Boadu said in a post-match presser.

Hearts of Oak medics are expected to carry out a test on Obeng Jnr’s right foot to ascertain the seriousness of the injury and determine whether he will be fit to feature in the match-day 27 home fixture against Dreams FC on May 1.
