Nsoatreman FC began their first CAF Confederation Cup campaign with an impressive 3-0 win over TP Elect Sport of Chad at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Led by their new coach, Yaw Preko, the Ghanaian team asserted control, especially towards the end of the first half.
The breakthrough came in the 31st minute when Abdul Rahman calmly scored the opening goal for Nsoatreman.
Just two minutes later, former Ghana U20 winger Kwabena Adu Meider increased their lead with a well-taken shot.
Rahman netted his second goal in the 36th minute, finishing off a low cross from Shaibu Iddrisu.
Elect Sport’s troubles deepened in the 54th minute when their goalkeeper, Mahamat Bechir, was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area.
Although Nsoatreman had a numerical advantage, they were unable to add to their tally, with Stephen Diyou striking the post in the 70th minute.
Goalkeeper Daniel Afazdwu made three vital saves to secure a clean sheet in Nsoatreman’s debut CAF Confederation Cup match.
The return leg is scheduled August 24, 2024, in N’Djamena, where Nsoatreman will aim to advance to the next round.
