The official launch of Chris Hughton as the new Black Stars head coach will take place next week, after he arrived in Ghana following the funeral of Christian Atsu which is currently being held at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.
Hughton, who is 64 years old, had been working with the senior national team for some time before being appointed as the head coach last month, replacing Otto Addo who left after the 2022 World Cup.
Hughton’s unveiling was delayed due to the recent death of his father, which led to a rescheduling of the event. However, he has now announced his 25-man squad and will soon begin preparations for the 2023 AFCON qualifier against Angola later this month.
After resolving all family emergencies, Hughton is expected to arrive at the Kotoka International Airport by the end of tomorrow and will travel to Kumasi for his official unveiling on Monday, March 20. Ghana will face the Black Antelopes on March 23 in Kumasi for the first leg, with the return encounter scheduled for four days later in Luanda.
