Muniru Sulley has thanked Asante Kotoko for their short marriage after he parted ways with the club on Friday.
The former CFR Cluj midfielder acknowledged the influence of club CEO Nana Yaw Amponsah which made him accept a deal to return and play in the Ghana Premier League.
In exiting, Muniru – the younger brother of former Black Stars midfielder Sulley Muntari – has hinted of a return to European football as his appreciation post on Instagram revealed why he accepted to play in the local game.
He posted in an Instagram story:
“I will like to thank Asante Kotoko supporters and management especially the CEO, Nana Yaw Amponsah who is a senior brother to me for the opportunity to play for such a great club of my childhood dreams.
“When the call came for me to serve this club although for a short period between the European transfer windows, I welcomed it wholeheartedly and I am glad to have served.
“Many refuse to come back home to play when the need arises but I am glad I accepted the challenge.
“It is time for another European adventure and I thank the management for staying true to their word and sticking to our initial agreement. I will relish this opportunity another time without hesitation.”
Asante Kotoko, earlier on Friday, announced the mutual termination of the contractual agreement between the two parties with no compensation paid. The club also indicated they paid no salary in the near three-month stay of the midfielder.
Muniru, 28, is speculated to be seeking another stay in Europe after stints with FCSB, Tondela, Yeni Malatyaspor, Dinamo Minsk and FC Tambov.
