The Black Starlets (U-17) of Ghana suffered a 2-1 defeat to Morocco at the Prince Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat on Monday in a friendly encounter.

The Moroccans took the lead in the 11th minute, Mesousa scored from close range after his first effort was saved by the goalkeeper.

Few minutes later, Morocco made it 2-0 through a beautiful curler from Yassine at the edge of the box.

Ghana reduced the deficit in the 60th minute, Jonas Naafo scored with a beautiful volley.

Despite the late pressure from Ghana, Morocco held on to win 2-1. The second leg of the friendly encounter will be played on Thursday at the same venue.

Morocco will be hosting the U-17 AFCON scheduled for July 2021. The Black Starlets failed to qualify after they bowed out of the group stages of the WAFU U-17 Cup of Nations in Kegue, Togo last month.
