Jonah Attuquaye’s late strike ensured Legon Cities secured a vital 2-1 win against  Liberty Professionals to move up from the relegation zone.

The Royals came from behind to beat Liberty Professionals in their matchday 24 battle played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday evening.

The Royals dominated possession in the opening minutes of the encounter in search of a goal but were unable to kiss the back of the net.

Liberty Professionals came close to score in the 15th minute but a good save from Honu denied the visitors.

Victorian Adebayor came up with a good chance to put Legon Cities after a one-on-one situation with the goalkeeper but missed the opportunity in the 26th minute.

Abraham Wayo’s effort in the 35th minute was saved by the Legon Cities goalkeeper to deny Liberty a goal

The first half ended with the two sides sharing the spoils.

Kweku Karikari scored the first goal of the game in the 80th minute to give Liberty Professionals the lead.

The lead was cut shoa rt a few minutes later as Baba Mahama got the equalizer for Legon Cities.

The game was heading to a stalemate after five minutes of additional time.

Jonah Attuquaye grabbed the winner for Legon Cities late in injury time to secure a vital win for The Royals in this matchday 23 fixture.
