Match report: King Faisal shock Accra Lions in the capital
1 min read
Accra Lions suffered yet another 1-0 defeat, and have dropped out of the top four.
They were beaten by King Faisal, who have seen a turnaround in fortunes since parting ways with their former coach Jimmy Cobblah.
Forward Benjamin Bature scored the all-important goal in the 9th minute of the encounter at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
With back-to-back wins this week, King Faisal have now won two games in a row for only the second time this season, following up their midweek 3-2 victory over Karela United with a win against surprise title contenders Accra Lions in a matchday 25 clash.
The home team paraded almost all their best players of the season such as Black Meteors duo Abass Samari Salifu and Dominic Nsobila but they failed to equalize.
The victory means Faisal go into Wednesday’s derby match against Asante Kotoko having won their last two matches.
