Striker Diawisie Taylor scored twice to end his two-game scoring drought as Karela United crawled back to beat Aduana FC 2-1 in their final game in the first round of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League Saturday.

Visiting Aduana took an early lead at Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park but Taylor’s brace sealed three points for the league leaders.

It was on 6 minutes when Bright Adjei took the hosts by surprise with the opening goal of the match-day 17 encounter after calmly skipping past two markers before slotting home a low grounder.

Aduana had the momentum but could not score further despite creating more decent chances.

And they got punished three minutes from the interval when Taylor levelled matters with a firm finish from inside the box.

Aduana continued to fluff many chances in the second half.

Heading into stoppage time, the scoreline was tied 1-1 but Diawise Taylor emerged with the matchwinner – directing a free-kick with a brilliant header past an out-of-position goalkeeper Joseph Addo. 2-1 the game ended.

The brace means Taylor, who has led the top scorers’ chart for large spells of the first round of the season, extends his tally to 12 goals while Karela are assured top place after the first round of the 2020/21 GPL with 31 points.
