Mark Addo reveals why the GFA didn’t consider CAS verdict choosing September 1 for Congress

Ghana Football Association vice-president Mark Addo has stated that he disagrees with those criticising the hierarchy for fixing its 26th Ordinary Congress on September 1.
It would be recalled that the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has set same day for the release of the verdict on the GFA vs Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer case.
Some football administrators believe that the FA’s date is unacceptable as the congressmen will be distructed when the judgement is finally made known by the adjudication body in the course of the Congress. They believe there will be wild jubilation irrespective of where the verdict goes and that will affect proceedings.
However, Mark Addo insists the FA’s work must continue because there is no indication that CAS will release the verdict as promised, having postponed it twice.
“The CAS verdict never went into our consideration for the date of the congress. It was all about the readiness of the documents so the CAS case was never considered. How sure are we that the verdict will come on that day? The work must continue, ” Mark Addo told Happy FM.
The GFA has set September 1, 202,0 for its Congress as they have tentatively scheduled the second week of October for the resumption of football pending government’s approval.
