Portuguese trainer Mariano Barreto has begun work as head coach of local giants, Asante Kotoko.
The former Ghana coach arrived in the country last week to take over the Kotoko coaching job.
The 64-year-old penned down a short-term deal of one-and-half year deal, according to a club statement.
The Portuguese trainer returns to Ghana for a second stint after handling the Black Stars from 2004 to 2006.
Barreto will lead the Porcupine Warriors for the second round of the Ghana Premier League which kicks off next month.
He watched the team on Saturday as they beat lower-tier side Rainbow FC 3-1 in a friendly.
Asante Kotoko finished in fourth place in the first round of the Ghana Premier League with 27 points.
