London-based Ghanaian coach confirms Tariq Lamptey’s nationality switch from England to Ghana

Ghanaian coach based in London, Freddie has confirmed Brighton & Hove Albion defender Tariq Lamptey’s nationality switch from England to Ghana ahead of the World Cup in Qatar.
The 20-year old has acquired his Ghanaian passport and have completed all formalities and is ready for a call-up to the Black Stars.
Lamptey is yet to make a senior international appearance, though he has played twice for England U21s.
Unlike Chelsea star Callum Hudson-Odoi, Lamptey will be eligible to play for Ghana in the upcoming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers even before the World Cup which will be taking place between November 21 and December 18.
And coach Freddie who is close to the player in a chat with Kumasi-based Pure FM, Lamptey is done with his paper works and is ready to honour an invitation from Ghana .
“Tariq Lamptey’s switch is done. He is available now for Ghana and it now depends on the coach if he will invite him for the upcoming games or not. To be honest, I shouldn’t be saying this but the switch is done,” Coach Freddie said.
With the World Cup on the horizon, the Black Stars could look to build up their squad with Inaki Brothers of Atletico Bilbao and Chelsea’s Callum Hudson Odoi.
