Asante Kotoko’s newly-signed goalkeeper, Frederick Asare, has sustained an injury in the club’s pre-season friendly against Al Hilal in Sudan on Friday evening.
Asare started the game for the Porcupine Warriors at the Al Hilal Stadium. The North African side opened the scoring in the 29th minute of the encounter through a free-kick.
Glody Lilepo, who snatched Hilal’s first goal, netted the second for the side with a few minutes to end the first half through a free kick.
In an attempt to save the ball from entering his net, Asare sustained an injury, notifying the technical team to replace him.
The degree of the injury is not known yet.
“45’+ 2 Asare looks to have hurt himself in an effort to save the free kick and calls to be substituted.”
Asare joined Kotoko from Accra Lions last month ahead of the 2022/23 football season.
Kotoko are in Sudan for the second phase of their pre-season ahead of the Ghana Premier League and Caf Champions League.
