Kotoko legend Malik Jabir ready to replace Maxwell Konadu as head coach

1 min read

Asante Kotoko legend Malik Jabir says he is ready to replace Coach Maxwell Konadu who was axed by the club on Friday morning.

The hierarchy of the Porcupine Warriors announced parting ways with the former Black Stars B head coach a day after their first defeat in the 2020-21 Ghana Premier League. The Reds suffered a 1-0 defeat to Olympics on Thursday.

The news has come as a surprise to Jabir because he believes management should have waited until at least matchday 10 of the season.

Asked if he would be willing to step in, Malik Jabir continued by saying he is ever ready to serve Kotoko as Coach.

“If the management wants me, I don’t have a problem, I’m coming to serve Kotoko not anyone and if they want me I’m ever ready for Asante Kotoko job,” he told Ashh FM.

He added that; “We(Kotoko) should appoint a local coach, not a foreign coach.”

According to the club, assistant coach Johnson Smith will head the technical team until a new coach is appointed.
