Communications Manager of Asante Kotoko, Moses Antwi Benefo has revealed that the club is close to signing Ghanaian International Asamoah Gyan.
According to him, the only thing left is for the two parties to agree on the personal terms of the former Sunderland striker.
The manager of the former Black Stars skipper, Samuel Anim Addo has already disclosed Gyan will not resist an offer to play for the Porcupine Warriors once it is enticing.
Reports in the local media suggest Gyan is demanding a signing-on fee of $500,000 before he joins the Reds.
Responding to Gyan’s imminent move to Kumasi, Antwi Benefo indicated that the club believes the time is now for Gyan to complete his move to the club.
“We believe the time is now for Asamoah Gyan to join Asante Kotoko. He’ll be a crowd puller and also very marketable. The only left is the monetary aspect, hope to clear that aspect. He has told us if we can meet his demands, he’s ready to play for Kotoko, ” Moses Antwi Benefo told Oyerepa FM.
If he agrees to join Kotoko, he will be following in the footsteps of his elder brother, Baffour, who also featured for the Porcupine Warriors in the 2010/11 season in the twilight of his career.
Gyan played in the local game 17 years ago for Liberty Professionals as a teenager before leaving for a professional career in Europe.
