Kotoko are no better than Hearts – Kosta Papic
2 min readHearts of Oak coach, Kosta Papic believes arch-rivals and current league leaders Asante Kotoko are not playing any better football than his side in the ongoing 2020/21 Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupine Warriors climbed to the top of the league log with 23 points after beating Karela United 2-0 at home over the weekend.
Hearts were billed to host Kotoko next on Sunday, February 14, but Kotoko’s participation in the Caf Confederation Cup same day means the Super Clash had to be postponed by two weeks.
Due to the Phobians’ poor run of form in the last five games, many have indicated that the rescheduling of the fixture gives them ample time to put their house together as it could have been a disastrous outing against the Porcupines this Sunday.
Despite their struggles, Papic has insisted that Kotoko are no better than Hearts.
“Oh really? I don’t think Kotoko is playing better than Hearts of Oak,” Papic reacted in an interview on Nhyira FM Tuesday.
He continued: “In my opinion, they (Hearts) are playing good just that we are not scoring the goals in the crucial moments. But we will go back on that track (scoring).”
“It is soon going to be changed and I don’t think it is going to be a problem.”
Papic initially declined to talk about his side’s bitterest rivals when initially quizzed on assessing their performance this season.
“Why are you asking me about them. You are talking to the coach of Hearts of Oak. I don’t want to talk about the job of other clubs because it is not my job. It is the job of the (Kotoko) coach and the players to analyze Kotoko,” he stated.
After 13 matches, Hearts of Oak are 9th in the league standings on 17 points – 6 behind leaders Asante Kotoko.
