JUST IN: King Faisal relegated from betPawa Premier League
1 min read
King Faisal’s relegation from the betPawa Premier League to the Division One League has been confirmed.
The decisive blow came when Karela United secured a 3-2 victory over Bibiani GoldStars at the Crosby Awuah Memorial (CAM) Park.
With one game remaining in the season, this result ensures that King Faisal will finish no higher than 16th place, regardless of the outcomes of the remaining matches.
Currently occupying the 17th position with 39 points, King Faisal sits three points behind Tamale City, who are just outside the relegation zone.
In their final game, if King Faisal secures a victory and Tamale City suffers a defeat, both teams would end up with the same points tally. However, King Faisal would still be unable to surpass Tamale City in the standings due to their inferior head-to-head record this season, which currently stands at 4-1 in favor of Tamale City.
Joining Kotoku Royals, King Faisal becomes the second team to face relegation from the Premier League this season.
Meanwhile, the final relegation slot will be determined on the last day of the season. Hearts of Oak, Karela United, Accra Lions, Legon Cities, Tamale City, and Great Olympics are all battling to avoid the drop.
