INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY: Morocco 1-0 Ghana – The Atlas Lions Wins 1-0 Over the Black Stars in Rabat

The Atlas Lions beat the Black Stars by 1-0 narrow margin at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat in an international friendly encounter this evening.

The Morocco Senior National team has emerged victorious after 1-0 win over Ghana’s Senior national team at the Prince Moulay Abdellah stadium in Rabat this evening in the ongoing International Friendlies.

The two teams were poised for actions just the moment the center referee whistled for the game to begin.

The Atlas Lions dominated the first 20 minutes of the game, possessing and attacking to get an early goal, but the defensive set up of Andy Yiadom, Gideon Mensah, Daniel Amartey and Nicolas Opoku prevented any ball from reaching the back of the net.

The Black Stars had one advantage on the 16th minute on the break after Yiadom ran passed his foes to locate Jordan Ayew however, Jordan’s shot was blocked by his marker. Resultant corner went wasteful.

On the 19th minute, the Moroccans went attacking, after Goalkeeper Razak Abalora gave an opponent pass which saw Yiadom to be dispossessed after Baba Iddrissu intercepted from the initial opponent pass and won the ball for Yiadom, but Ghana were lucky Morocco’s attack went wasteful.

Skipper Romain Saiss came close to give Morocco the lead from a corner kick after the defender headed the ball which beat Goalkeeper Abalora unfortunately, ball missed the goalpost by inches on the 21st minute.

As the two teams didn’t allow any ball to enter their goalpost, the game subsequently went to the break.

Ghana came quickly on the 55th minute on a three-against-three situation through Samuel Owusu who located Jordan, Jordan took the ball to his marker, dummied the marker, fired to the goalpost however, Goalkeeper Bono saved the ball to the corner kick.

Goalkeeper Abalora had to save his side from Munir El Hadadi free kick on the 58th minute before the hosts took the lead on the 69th minute.

Midfielder Hackim Ziyech effected a free kick half way into Ghana’s half, Goalkeeper Abalora who tried to punch the ball missed the ball, and in the pool of players, Jawad El Yamiq headed home for the Atlas Lions.

On the 70th minute, the Black Stars came close as Mohammed Kudus fired a thunderbolt unfortunately goalkeeper Bono saved the ball from kissing the net.

Skipper André Ayew was substituted into the game to help Ghana get the equaliser however  Morocco managed the scoreline until the referee blew his final whistle.

The end results see Ghana loosing 1-0 to Morocco at the Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat.

The Black Stars will travel to Ghana to play Ivory Coast on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at the Cale Coast stadium.
