“I have not retired from international football” – Asamoah Gyan

Ghana’s all-time leading topscorer, Asamoah Gyan has claimed that despite not playing for the Black Stars in recent times, he has not given up playing for the national team again.
The 36-year-old last played for the Black Stars during the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations tournament where Ghana was booted out in the knockout stage.
Gyan has been unattached since leaving Legon Cities FC after the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.
The former Sunderland and Al Ain forward thinks he hasn’t given up on the Ghana senior national team despite not playing for more than a year.
“I have not retired from international football, I still feel that I can play for Ghana but I have to return to playing actively at the club level first before thinking about the Black Stars”, Asamoah Gyan said in an interview on Kumasi-based Wontumi Radio/TV.
Ghana will be playing in the upcoming World Cup. The four-time Africa champions have been paired in group H of alongside Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea.
