The head coach of Dreams FC, Abdul Karim Zito, has expressed his love for Pep Guardiola’s coaching theory while simultaneously emphasizing that he does not like him as a “person”.
The Spaniard who currently manages Manchester City led the team to its first treble last season, usurping rivals Manchester United, who had previously won the title under former manager Sir Alex Ferguson in 1999.
Manchester City are the current Premier League Champions in the English Premier League.
Having guided Ghana’s U-20 squad to the AFCON victory in Mauritania in 2021, Karim Zito is considered one of the brightest minds in Ghanaian football.
Now leading Dreams FC in the Premier League, Zito wants to leave his mark in the history books of Ghanaian football, and he will now lead his team against Club Africain of Tunisia on Sunday in the 2023–24 CAF Confed Cup first group match.
Zito stated during an interview on TV3’s GPL Express that his respect for Guardiola’s strategies is unmistakable.
“The person I admire in coaching is Pep Guardiola, but i don’t like him, but i like his philosophy, why becuase of where i started my career as a developer.
“When you talk about coaches in the world, Pep is my coach like, in terms of the philosophy, but i don’t like him maybe because i am Real Madrid, i was a Barcelona fan but then Ronaldo left and when he joined Real Madrid i moved there.”
Dreams FC will take on Club Africain from Tunisia on Saturday at the Stade Hammadi Agrebi, in Tunis in the first group game of the 2023/24 CAF Confederations Cup.
Dreams will later take on Nigerian side Rivers United & Academica do Lobito of Angola in the other two group games.
