Hearts of Oak is only big on paper – Martin Koopman

According to Martin Koopman, the former manager of Hearts of Oak, the team is no longer a ‘big club’ in Ghana.
He claimed that although the Phobians are a top side in the League right now, their high standing is merely a paper thing.
Speaking in an interview, he stated that lacking balance between his team was the biggest obstacle he had to overcome as Hearts manager.
“They think they are the best club in Ghana. On paper yes, but that’s not true. We had a young team and no experience…Actually, we missed balance in our team. We had a very good defense, a very good midfield but we missed strikers and wingers,” he told Ghanasportspage.com
The Dutch gaffer said although that is the reality of the squad available, the board and supporters refused to understand.
“Every time I said that everybody was not happy but it was the truth. And it’s not easy to tell the truth against the board and against the fans but that was the reality at the moment for Hearts of Oak. “
Martin Koopman was in charge of the Phobians for three months. During the period he managed only two wins in ten matches.
