Hearts of Oak explains reason behind Sulley Muntari’s exclusion from travelling squad for Aduana Stars game

Hearts of Oak will miss the services of midfielder Sulley Ali Muntari ahead of their weekend clash with Aduana Stars.

The Phobians named their traveling squad without their talismanic midfielder for the potential season shaping trip to Dormaa.

Muntari made five appearances in the colors of Hearts of Oak including two assists and a goal but has now been ruled out for the daunting trip to Dormaa.

“Much as he [Muntari] has been playing so well, he needs to be managed to ensure he is always available whenever it matters most”, a source from the club told ghanasportspage.com.

“The technical team decided not to include him in the squad list basically to rest him for subsequent games, not for any other reasons being peddled around”, the source added.

Initially, it was reported that he has excused himself from the team due to the distance from Accra to Dormaa.

Samuel Boadu can however call on Salim Adams, Frederick Ansah Botchway, Abu Ushau and other star midfielders for the trip to Dormaa.

Hearts of Oak halted their indifferent run of matches to put their title hopes back on track and now trails Asante Kotoko SC just 9 points.
