According to Dr. Nyaho Nyaho Tamakloe, the head coach of the club, Slavko Matic’s future at Hearts of Oak will be determined by the club’s management. Matic, who is a Serbian trainer, was not present on the dugout during Hearts of Oak’s match against their rivals, Asante Kotoko, on matchday 20.
After consecutive losses to Aduana Stars and Great Olympics, Matic was prevented from holding training sessions with the team. Prior to the Super Clash, which also served as the 2023 President’s Cup, fans called for the dismissal of the 47-year-old coach.
Despite the fans’ demands, Dr. Tamakloe stated that the board will make a decision regarding Matic’s future soon. In the match against Asante Kotoko, assistant coach David Ocloo led the team to a victory with Konadu Yiadom scoring the winning goal from Linda’s freekick in the 57th minute.
“The future of Slavko Matic will be determined by the board,” he told Asempa FM.
“I cannot confirm if he is staying or not because we [the board] have not met to make a decision on that.
“If we meet and make a decision on the future of Matic, the fans and the public will be informed.
“For now, the assistant coach, David Ocloo is in charge of the team now,” he added.
Slavko Matic replaced Samuel Boadu after a poor start to the ongoing season.
Following the win, Hearts of Oak now sit 5th on the league log with 31 points and will play Bibiani Gold Stars in the matchday 21 games at DUN’s Park.
