Hearts coach Samuel Boadu ‘surprised’ by penalty decision in AshantiGold defeat

Head coach of Hearts Of Oak, Samuel Boadu says he was ‘shocked by the penalty that was awarded against his side in the defeat to AshantiGold on Saturday afternoon.

The Phobians suffered a slender 1-0 loss to the Miners in their match-day 19 Ghana Premier League game at the Len Clay Stadium.

Hearts were presented with an opportunity to take the lead through a penalty but Victor Aidoo’s spot-kick was saved by goalkeeper Kofi Mensah.

The Miners secured all three points in the 92nd minute when Amos Addai converted a penalty, beating Benjamin Mensah in posts for the visitors.

Hearts Of Oak defender Fatawu Mohammed was adjudged to have handled the ball in the penalty area and referee Gabriel Opoku Arhin whistled for the penalty.

But Boadu who was seeking to win his third consecutive game since he took over the capital-based coaching job said he does not know why the referee took that decision.

“Football sometimes is unpredictable, why the referee took that decision l can never tell but we can all see what happened, ” Boadu said in the post-match interview.

“I have no comment about them. I am concentrating on my next match which is against Inter Allies, ” he added.

Hearts Of Oak drops to the 5th position after match-day 19 with 30 points, 4 less than leaders Asante Kotoko.
