Hamza Obeng leaves Medeama, tipped to join Hearts Of Oak

1 min read

Hamza Obeng has quit his assistant coach job at Medeama SC for what many believe to be an impending reunion with former boss Samuel Boadu.

It’s exactly 20 days since Boadu surprised the Tarkwa-based club with a resignation letter on his birthday. He has since taken up the head coach job at local giants Hearts of Oak.

When the young Boadu exited Medeama, he was strongly tipped to be immediately joined by his then trusted assistant for the Phobian project. But that has taken time in happening.

Boadu was replaced by Yaw Preko as new head coach for Medeama and he arrived with ex-national teammate Yaw Acheampong as an assistant, a decision which forced the young Hamza Obeng to drop to a second assistant coach role.

Fast forward  Tuesday, March 16, Hamza decided to call it quits with Medeama by tendering his resignation to the club’s management. He cited personal reasons for his decision.

Hamza Obeng – who is known for talent scouting – joined Medeama as assistant coach in December 2018 after a previously leading King Faisal in the Division One League.

His resignation – which takes immediate effect – clears the path for a reunion with Samuel Boadu who started his Hearts journey with a 4-0 thrashing of WAFA SC some in the Ghana Premier League.
