#GPLWk14 wrap-up: Dreams FC sink Aduana Stars, Medeama & Chelsea pick home wins as Inter Allies secure vital away point

As usual, the Premier league brought us some exciting results, 6 games have so far been played, with 2 more to take place on Monday and Tuesday. One other game has been postponed, which is the game between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak due to Kotoko’s participation in the CAF Confederation cup.

We take a look at how things unfolded in the first 6 games:

WAFA 0-0 ASHANTIGOLD

Strugglers WAFA and AshantiGold shared spoils at the Sogakope park. Both sides came into the game having lost their last two games. AshantiGold had the first chance of the game, a header from a corner was cleared off the line by Konadu Yiadom. WAFA started to dominate the game and came close to breaking the deadlock in the 40th minute, an unmarked Marvin Owusu failed to beat Robert Dabuo with a header. The second half of the way was less entertaining, both sides failed to create any huge opportunity as the game ended scoreless.

DREAMS 4-2 ADUANA STARS

Dreams FC continued their impressive run under Vladislav Viric as they defeated Aduana Stars 4-2. Dreams opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Joseph Esso from close range. The Still believe side made it 2-0 in the 35th minute, Joseph Esso scored from the spot after Agyenim Boateng was fouled. Aduana Stars pulled one back the 60th minute, Bright Adjei the goal scorer. Dreams scored two quick goals in the 69th and 73rd minute to it 4-1 and kill the game off. Agyenim Boateng and Emmanuel Ocran scored the two quick goals. Aduana didn’t give up, they pulled one back quickly through Emmanuel Osei Baffour to reduce the deficit to 2 and make the scoreline 4-2. Both teams had a man sent off in the final minutes of the game.

LIBERTY PROFESSIONALS 2-2 INTER ALLIES

A late goal from substitute Hashim Ali handed Inter Allies their first point in 7 games. Inter Allies took a surprise lead in the 22nd minute, Suleman Nafiu scored to give them the lead. Liberty grew into the game and came close on a number of occasions, but the Inter Allies defense held on to go into the break a goal up. Liberty came back from the break playing like they ended the first half, they scored two quick goals in the 68th and 72nd minute to make it 2-1. Stanley Ampaw grabbed the equalizing goal before Abraham Wayo scored from the spot. That wasn’t the end of the drama at the Carl Reindorf park, towering center back Hashim Ali scored in additional time to make it 2-2 and earn his side a deserving point.

EBUSUA DWARFS 1-2 KARELA UNITED

Karela United earned their first away win of the season as they defeated Ebusua Dwarfs 2-1 and in the process hand them their 3rd home defeat this season. Karela opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Umar Bashiru, he scored with a pass from Diawisie Taylor. Karela doubled their lead in the final minutes of the first half, Diawisie Taylor scored his 10th goal of the season to make it 2-0. Dwarfs grabbed the consolation goal in the 83rd minute through Benjamin Acquah, but it was too late for a comeback as the game ended 2-1.

BEREKUM CHELSEA 2-0 ELEVEN WONDERS

Berekum Chelsea defeated Eleven Wonders 2-0 to go 3 points clear off the drop zone. Chelsea opened the scoring in the 7th minute from the spot kick through Stephen Amankona. The Blues were awarded another spot kick in the 10th minute, Stephen Amankona stepped up once again and calmly beat the goalkeeper. The remaining of the game saw both sides create chances, but none of the players was able to find the back of the net as it ended 2-0.

MEDEAMA 2-0 BECHEM UNITED

Medeama defeated Bechem United 2-0 at the Akoon Park to bounce back to winning ways. The Mauve and Yellow opened the scoring in the 13th minute, Justice Blay scored from the spot after Abass Mohammed was fouled. Medeama doubled by their lead in the 43rd minute, Bright Enchil scored after a beautiful passing to make it 2-0. Both teams created chances in the second half, but none of the players was able to put the ball at the back of the net to change the score line.
