GPL Preview: Berekum Chelsea host Asante Kotoko in epic clash on Friday

On Friday, April 14, 2023, Berekum Chelsea will host defending champions Asante Kotoko at the Golden City Park as they resume their League campaign.
Both teams will be seeking consistency, with Berekum Chelsea aiming to bounce back after a four-game winless streak and Asante Kotoko hoping to maintain their title hopes with a win following a goalless draw with King Faisal in their previous game.
Although Asante Kotoko defeated Chelsea 2-1 in Kumasi earlier in the season, the Golden City Park has not been a successful hunting ground for them, having failed to secure a win there in the past two seasons.
Furthermore, they will be without their captain Richard Boadu, who is suspended due to accumulating yellow cards, posing a challenge for Gazale in selecting his replacement for this crucial match.
Berekum Chelsea is currently in eighth position on the League standings with 34 points, trailing Asante Kotoko by five points. With a packed league log, Ennin’s team knows they cannot afford to lose, as it could result in them getting drawn into a relegation battle that may go down to the wire.
While Asante Kotoko will be looking to break the Berekum hoodoo and close the gap on league leaders Aduana, Ennin’s team will be counting on their home advantage to secure a victory.
Ennin has vowed to avenge all sides that defeated them in the first round, and this game presents an excellent opportunity to achieve this.
