GPL PREVIEW: ASANTE KOTOKO VS BEREKUM CHELSEA

2 min read

Asante Kotoko will be looking to continue their charge towards the Ghana premier league title when they welcome Berekum Chelsea to the Obuasi Len Clay stadium this afternoon.

The Porcupine Warriors are currently third on the league table, two points behind league league leaders Accra Great Olympics, while Berekum Chelsea occupy 11th position with 24 points.

Following a decision to quit the Accra sports stadium and play their home games in the second round at the Obuasi Len Clay stadium, the Kumasi-based giants seemed to have settled comfortably in their newly adopted home grounds.

In fact, the Krobea club annihilated and sunk Bechem United in their first home game in which they played at Obuasi in the midweek, beating The Hunters by four goals to zero.

Only an incredible turn of events will prevent the porcupines from out-classing the Blues here as coach Mariano Barreto looks to continue his excellent start to life as Kotoko manager by making it two wins out of two games.

The good news for Kotoko is that, Black Stars defender, Christopher Nettey has returned to the squad after missing the last game against the Hunters. In-form Brazilian duo Fabio Dos Santos Gama and Micheal Vinicius are all available for selection.

Berekum Chelsea will come in high spirits following their 2-1 win over Legon Cities in their last game.

Probable line-ups:

Asante Kotoko

Razak Abalora, Samuel Frimpong. Ibrahim Imoro, Ismail Ganiyu, Yussif Mubarik, Habib Mohammed, Fabio Gama, Salifu Mudasiru, Emmanuel Gyamfi, Andy Kumi Francis, Augustine Okrah

Berekum Chelsea

Samuel Adjei (GK), Jorge Renchi, Hanry Ansu, Edward Kpodo, Benjamin Abaidoo, Richard Kissi Boateng, Stephen Amankona (C), Hamza Gonji, Augustine Henneh, Stephen Sarfo, Kofi Owusu

Footydreamsgh.com Predictions:

Despite not being favourites for this one, The Blues can pull a surprise considering their recent form against Kotoko. When the two teams met in the first round, Kotoko were denied three points by Emmanuel Clottey’s last-gasp free-kick.

WE SAY: Asante Kotoko 2 – 1 Berekum Chelsea
