1 min read

Bechem United successfully protected their unbeaten home run at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park after a hard fought 1-1 draw with visiting Hearts of Oak in a Ghana Premier League match-day 28 fixture on Saturday.

Midfielder Emmanuel Owusu opened the scoring for Bechem United with a 30th minute tap-in that went past Hearts of Oak goalie Richard Atta.

The Phobians drew level in the 46th minute after midfielder Suraj Seidu latched onto a long pass from Ansah Botchway and fired past Bechem United goalie Abdulai Iddrissu.

Back from recess with the scoreline tied at 1-1, Afriyie Barnieh came close to scoring in the 70th and 90th minutes but Bechem goalie Idrissu came to the rescue to deny the attacking midfielder.

Hearts of Oak fans were given a scare after goalie Richard Atta was injured by Hunters’ striker Augustine Okrah following a poor tackle in the 86th minute. Atta managed to finish the game after receiving treatment from the medics.

The result keeps Bechem United in the 2nd spot and Hearts of Oak in the 3rd spot with 47 and 44 points respectively.
