Government to set up Committee to determine Afcon bonuses

Minister of Youth and Sports Mustapha Ussif has revealed that a committee will be formed to determine the exact amount to be paid to the players of the Black Stars ahead of Afcon 2022.
Bonuses for players has been a major problem for the country, especially with the Brazil 2014 World Cup debacle in mind.
The newly-elected Minister Mustapha Ussif believes that it is important to set up such an ad-hoc committee specifically for bonus determination in order not to repeat such a situation in future.
“Ghanaians are not worried about what we give the Black Stars but they are worried about how accountable we are.
“They will want to make sure that whatever we give the Black Stars we get something back for it and I share the views of Ghanaians.
I “Going to the Afcon and other competitions, a technical team should be put together to look at bonuses and compensation for the national team comprehensively.
“We should not wait till we are heading to the Afcon to start these discussions because that is the time when the team is supposed to focus on training and strategy for winning the competition.
“We are going to move away from that regime.
“So a technical team will be put in place and they are going to make recommendations.
“This technical team will engage the players, the supporters and key stakeholders, ” he added
