Ghana’s Issah Abass joins Dutch side FC Twente

Dutch side FC Twente have secured the services of Ghanaian youngster Issah Abass on loan.

The 22-year-old joins the Netherlands outfit from Bundesliga side FSV Mainz 05. He will be with the Eredivisie side until the end of the season.

The former Asokwa Deportivo winger returned to Mainz in June 2020 after a successful stint with Utrecht. He has, however, struggled for playing time, having featured in only two games.

“It’s great that we have Issah Abass in the selection. Abass is a strong and fast striker who can also play on the sides. He is an energetic boy with a very good drive. As soon as the work permit is in place, he can join the group,” technical director Jan Streuer said after the move.

Issah Abass has had a stint with NK Olimpija in Slovenia in 2017.

He was part of the squad that represented Ghana at the U-23 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) in 2019 in Egypt.
