Leeroy Owusu, the Dutch-born Ghanaian defender, is set to leave Willem II Tilburg as his contract comes to an end at the conclusion of this month.
After joining Willem II Tilburg from De Graafschap in 2020, Owusu enjoyed a three-year spell with the club, but his time there will now come to a close.
Owusu played a vital role in Willem II Tilburg’s campaign to secure promotion back to the Dutch Eredivisie in the recently concluded 2022/23 season. However, their efforts fell short as they were defeated by Venlo in the playoffs at the end of May, losing on penalties after a two-legged tie.
During his tenure in the Dutch second tier, Owusu made 38 appearances as a right-back, contributing two goals and six assists.
In a social media post, Owusu confirmed his departure from the club and expressed confidence that Willem II Tilburg will soon make a return to the Eredivisie.
Over the past three years, Leeroy Owusu has amassed a total of 102 appearances for Willem II Tilburg, registering two goals and providing 12 assists.
