Ghanaian giants, Asante Kotoko has been ordered by the Player Status Committee (PSC) to pay $30,000 ( 20%) to former midfielder Kwame Bonsu for failure to adhere to provisions in his contract.
Bonsu did not receive any amount in the form of a contract fee when he inked a deal with the Porcupine Warriors.
He, however, agreed to take 30% of any onward transfer from the Kumasi-based club to a different club.
But our checks indicate that Kotoko failed to honour their part of the contract when the player was transferred to Esperance in 2019 under the Dr Kwame Kyei-led administration.
The player reported the issue to the Player and coaches status committee.
However, the PSC has ruled that Kotoko should pay Kwame Bonsu $30,000 and also a fine of GHS 5,000 for delaying the payment to the player.
In a related development, Club Consult Africa are also entitled to 20% of the transfer and are demanding such with Closemarking Consult who brokered the settlement between Kotoko and Esperance also in the court of law demanding their 20% share of the transfer from Asante Kotoko.
